Service Description

From the tropical environments of Africa and South America to Canada’s Arctic, Rescan’s environmental engineers are specialists in developing innovative and cost effective reclamation and closure plans. Given their industry backgrounds, its not surprising that our engineers become involved in such a variety of mine development projects in so many places.

Reclamation and closure planning are essential components of modern mineral exploration and development projects. Lending institutions the world over now require that reclamation and closure planning be conducted as part of the Environmental Assessment process.

Typical phases of reclamation and closure planning include:

  • Development of conceptual progressive reclamation and closure options;
  • Stakeholder consultations;
  • Analysis of alternatives;
  • Conceptual design and feasibility studies; and
  • Detailed reclamation, closure and monitoring plan design.

Rescan’s design approach consistently strives to pair sound environmental assessment techniques with feasible reclamation objectives that all stakeholders can support.
