Service Description

Rescan's environmental engineers offer expertise in the study of meteorological conditions, air quality and fugitive dust monitoring and emissions management. Rescan has installed automated air quality and meteorological stations in remote parts of the Canadian Arctic, South America, Africa, Asia and Europe.

The meteorological and air quality monitoring programs can provide site specific baseline data and provide crucial input for development of emissions, surface water and water quality management plans. In addition, site specific meteorological and air quality data is essential for developing air dispersion modelling studies, which are often a required component of environmental assessments for mining projects.

Rescan’s expertise includes:

  • Design, installation and commissioning of automated stations, complemented by personnel training for long term operation of station
  • Near real-time data delivery from station to the end user through the use of satellite and radio-telemetry technology
  • Station programming to meet client specifications, and conformity with specifications of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the American Association of State Climatologists
  • Calculation of open water evaporation and monitoring of snow-water-equivalent precipitation
  • Fugitive dust and ambient particulate (PM2.5 and PM10) monitoring
  • Snow-course sampling and snow chemistry analysis
  • Source emissions testing and calculation of optimum stack height
  • Preparation of air quality and fugitive emissions management plans
