Years at Rescan

What were you doing before joining Rescan?
Working on my Master’s research.
Why did you decide to join Rescan?
I did not expect to be able to find employment directly related to my studies when finishing my Master’s (I did not know much about the mining industry at the time). Rescan offered the opportunity to work on interesting applied problems based on a strong scientific approach.
What is typical day at Rescan like for you?
Initially my days consisted of planning or executing field programs to collect stream flow measurements (in Northwest BC, the Arctic, and Mexico), or lab based studies (e.g., flocculation testing, and aeration tank studies). Now that I’ve moved into more of a management role, my day typically consists of corresponding with clients on project progress, preparing for meetings with clients, government agencies or the public, and reviewing reports.
What has been most rewarding about your Rescan experience?
Rescan has provided me with many opportunities to work on complex and interesting projects, to see places I would not otherwise get to, and to develop professionally (including registering as a Professional Geoscientist). As part of a fast-growing company, I have been able to work independently, and take on new responsibilities, while all the time knowing that I have a strong network of bright and intelligent people to support me.
