Mr. Clem Pelletier is a process chemist/metallurgist by training with fourteen years in industry and twenty-five years in resource related environmental consulting. He has dedicated his entire professional career to the practice and dissemination of sound environmental principles in the resource industry. Since 1981, Mr. Clem Pelletier has been retained as a consultant to a number of international mining companies, to assist with feasibility studies, conceptual design, project development, environmental licensing and project management.

Mr. Clem Pelletier has managed the environmental work for a number of major projects including the Ekati Diamond Mine project for BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc., Voisey’s Bay Nickel for Inco, Minera Escondida for BHP, Goro Nickel Project for Inco, Quebrada Blanca Copper Project for Cominco, Minahasa Project for Newmont, Batu Hijau STP Project for Newmont, Cayeli Bakir Project for Inmet, Galore Creek Project for NovaGold and numerous others. He has also managed numerous acid rock drainage studies, industrial water treatment studies, fish compensation plans, and qualitative risk assessments for the Government of the Northwest Territories, the Province of British Columbia and the Federal Government.


Pierre Pelletier, P.Eng.

Mr. Pierre Pelletier is an environmental engineer with a Masters of Business Administration from Queen’s University. He has over a decade of leadership experience in the environmental consulting industry and numbers years of international experience in the private sector with BHP Billiton. Mr. Pelletier is responsible for the global operation of Rescan and continuing Rescan’s solid reputation as a provider of sustainable environmental practices for the benefit of present and future generations.

Through his experience within large mining operations and as a consultant, Pierre has demonstrated practical skills that allow him to address even the most complicated environmental issues and practices related to the mining sector in a sensible and economic manner. He has managed several large Environmental Impact Assessments as well as Mine Closure Plans in North America and Latin America and has also designed and permitted environmental treatment plants. Pierre’s experience also includes managing due diligences and environmental audits as well as performing in-depth risk assessments of either entire mining operations or smaller more critical aspects of the operation for his clients.

Ms. Woo has been with Rescan for 16 years and has over 20 years of experience in business management, including business development, financial management, human resources, marketing, and strategic planning. Linda assists in the development of joint ventures, alliances and corporate strategies. Linda is responsible for accounting, finance and administration for Rescan and its affiliate offices in North America and throughout the world.

Dr. Muggli has over 13 years of experience in the environmental consulting field, and 20 years experience in technical studies.  Dr. Muggli has proven experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, and keeping budgets on track and deliverables on time.  She has worked with numerous regulators on monitoring, compliance, and permitting projects, with her most recent experience being for a potential mine and port development project in Nunavut.  Examples of projects where Dr. Muggli has managed multidisciplinary teams for baseline work, environmental assessment, regulatory permitting or monitoring programs include:  EKATI Diamond Mine, Diavik Diamond Mine, Escondida Copper Mine, Coloso Diffuser Project, Escondida, Hope Bay Belt Project, Island Copper Project, Hackett River Project, Kensington Coeur Alaska Marine Project, Awak Mas Marine Project-Indonesia, Toka Tindung Minahasa Marine Project-Indonesia, Environment Canada (CEAA screening for Hydroelectric Project), and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (Northern Mine Reclamation Projects).  Dr. Muggli’s technical area of expertise is water, and she has been a technical advisor to numerous projects involving water issues and mines (e.g. water license issues, monitoring issues, waste management issues).

Mr. Wen has 15 years of experience in the management and technical aspects of mining-related environmental issues, including experience in Environmental Impact Assessments, environmental and H&S audits, environmental baseline studies, closure planning, and the planning, design and management of mining pit lakes. Mr. Wen has designed aquatic monitoring programs for major mining projects, and is experienced in the experimental design of multi-disciplinary projects to determine environmental impacts. He has taught statistics at the undergraduate level at the University of British Columbia and has presented conference papers related to the environmental management of mines, fish habitat compensation projects, and mining-pit lakes. He has led risk assessment workshops for major mining projects, and defended technical environmental monitoring work for mining companies in judicial settings. His projects have including leading large multi-disciplinary field teams for baseline studies in Canada, the USA and overseas, managing environmental assessments, the development of environmental assessment methodology, water license development and renewals, Health, Safety, Environmental and community management plans, and closure planning.

Mr. Landry is a fisheries biologist with over 15 years of experience.  He has extensive project management and technical skills.  Mr. Landry has managed several environmental studies, including some in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, Alaska, and British Columbia.  Mr. Landry has worked with numerous regulatory agencies, particularly related to fisheries issues and fish habitat compensation for mining projects.  He has completed international fisheries projects in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Alaska, and on coral reefs studies in Barbados and New Caledonia.  He has expertise in experimental study design of projects to determine environmental impacts, specifically related freshwater environments.  His knowledge of the regulatory process, experimental design, and biological processes allows him to manage large and small-scale baseline studies, environmental assessments, and environmental effects monitoring projects.  He has extensive field experience, especially in sampling various fish species in lakes, streams, and oceans with a wide variety of equipment, as well sampling of water, sediment, and primary and secondary producers.  He has also completed several projects which involved local aboriginal groups.


Tom Sharp, Ph.D., P.E.

Tom Sharp is a civil/environmental engineer specializing in mine water management and treatment, mine closure and reclamation, and site remediation.  Working in industry and as a consultant, he has prepared water treatment evaluations, site and operational water balances, water management plans and closure plans for operating and historic mines.  His water treatment and remediation experience includes the design and assessment of groundwater and surface water interception systems, bioreactor systems, in-situ groundwater treatment, and biological and chemical treatment systems.  He has also worked for legal consul allocating environmental reclamation and remediation costs between multiple responsible parties on large complex sites.  Tom is a Professional Engineer (Montana) and a Certified Environmental Manager in Nevada and has a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering.


George W. Poling, Ph.D. P.Eng.

Dr. Poling is Professor Emeritus and former Head of the Department of Mining and Mineral Process Engineering at the University of British Columbia, where he taught from 1968 to 1997 and for two years was also Research Coordinator for the B.C. Mining Association. He is one of Canada's leading experts in mineral processing and environmental management of mining operations with special emphasis on effluent treatment, tailings disposal, waste solids handling, land reclamation and acid drainage control. Dr. Poling has been an associate consultant with Rescan Environmental Services Ltd. since its inception and serves (with Clem Pelletier) as a member of the environmental monitoring advisory team which oversees the monitoring program for BHP-Utah's Island Copper Mine on Vancouver Island. Dr. Poling has also been involved in research programs addressing acid drainage concerns at the Island Copper Mine and several other mines in British Columbia, and has published numerous papers on mineral processing and acid drainage control.  Dr. Poling retired in June 2007 and remains an Associate of Rescan for special projects.
