This multi-discipline position supports monitoring activities associated with weather-related studies within Rescan's Water Resources and Atmospheric disciplines. The position can be based Smithers, Yellowknife or Vancouver. Field work will range from participating in the construction, operation, inspection and maintenance of hydrometric and atmospheric monitoring stations, and use of other meteorological and hydrological instruments. There is a strong field component to this position. Experience in measuring stream discharge and conducting bathymetric surveys will be an asset. Work will also involve conducting baseline studies for air quality and noise as well as conducting snow course surveys. Experience with installing metrological stations is highly desirable. Experience in surveying (Differential GPS, transit, rod & level, compass & chain techniques) would be an asset. Candidates should have experience with working in and around rivers, and using small boats with outboard engines. Office based activities will be related to collating and processing of data, preparing figures, maps, drawings, charts and reports where necessary as well as supporting the maintenance of equipment.
