Community

Rescan is responsible to the community and values the positive effect of volunteerism and fundraising. Through our work, we are attuned to the social and environmental conditions of people throughout the world, and direct our efforts primarily in communities where we live and work. Here are just a few of our initiatives:

  • Mining for Miracles - For 23-years BC’s Mining Industry have raised over $15.5M for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. 100% of the funds raised by the Mining for Miracles Campaign go to areas of particular need at BC Children’s Hospital. Rescan participates annually in the Diamond Package Draw, Slo-Pitch Competition, and Jeans Day. More than 50 companies and hundreds of individuals support BC Children’s Hospital every year by donating to various Mining for Miracle Campaign events.

  • Canadian Blood Services – The BC Mining Community Blood Challenge promotes blood donation in the mineral exploration and mining community. Participation and involvement in the Mining Community Challenge helps Canadian Blood Services ensure that the critical needs of British Columbians are met. Rescan has participated annually in the Provincial Mining Community Blood Challenge since its inception and is proud to be the winner for that last five years and a “Partner for Life.”

  • Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup – Rescan participates annually in The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup - a national conservation initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium that engages tens of thousands of Canadians each year. The GCSC’s goal is to “bring communities together to achieve real measureable impacts on environment, both globally and locally.” More than just a program to pick up trash, participants collect valuable data about the types and amounts of litter found along our waterways. In 2009 GCSC removed 160,914 kg of litter from our shorelines!

Rescan also donates, participates or sponsors the following charities and events: the Vancouver Sun Run, CIBC Run for the Cure, Bike to Work Week, Arctic Winter Games, Special Olympics Sports Celebrities Festival, Ride to Conquer Cancer, the Salvation Army, and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
